I've just had my four year anniversary with the Peter Hurley Headshot Crew. It was about the same time that I was wanting to return to higher education in an effort to complete my Bachelors Degree when I came upon Peter Hurley's group. Studying curriculums I wasn't able to find anything that stimulated me. My lifelong passion has been photography, and the closest thing that I could find akin to photography was mass communication, journalism, or graphic arts, with none of them appealing to me. I discovered a TED TALK, which Mr. Hurley gave with a Psychologist, during which time the two of them merged photography with psychology in a riveting talk that touched on the camera's ability to mirror an individuals psychological states. Mr. Hurley's motivation as a Headshot Photographer, was and is to draw out and capture a sitters best expressions, which exude confidence and approachability. Hurley talked about the photographers responsibility to do this successfully, owing it to the individual that is paying ($) to be photographed.
Peter has become a successful teacher to some 2K photographers, world-wide, sharing his methodology and technical expertise. I personally have been the recipient of a portion of this expertise, and am now embarking on a new chapter of my photographic journey, not only photographing human beings, but expecting to draw an income for my efforts.
